The tale of The Friendship Shoes.

These shoes were meant to be the start of something specific. At least in my mind. They were bought together at the time The Gypsy Feet was born. I had visions of shared adventures and sisterhood being tied together by twin shoes (instead of Friendship bracelets) - or quadruplet shoes? It didn't quite work out that way. The shoes did motivate me to chase adventure instead of sitting about being glum due to a back injury that kept me from working and getting homesick but I was following adventure with another partner.

It was then a new pair of Friendship Shoes was adopted into the first months of The Gypsy Feet's life. Those ginormous man shoes. The shoes added a new side to him. When we first met socks and sandals were not an uncommon sight. Now he's mister flip flops, sideburns and adventure orientated...
Even though things changed pretty quickly and The Gypsy Feet didn't follow the life plan I set out for it. It's grown into something I'm proud of. It's a part of me. It motivates me to do things and to share and encourage others to be a part of life adventures. Whether or not they accept the challenge is up to them. I'm finding fulfillment in my surroundings even though I sit at the same chair every day.

I'm sitting in the same place but I'm going somewhere different.

Have an adventure this weekend. Share it with us: wandering_shoes@live.com Get involved!

Change is coming to The Gypsy Feet. I can feel it.

So I married an...

Sometimes I have random amazing thoughts. Like lightening bolt thoughts. They happen sometimes and stun me. My recent thought was this, "I felt more comfortable in my wedding dress last week playing around in the garden with Kirsten than I did on my wedding day!"

It was a bizarre thought and at first I thought, "Shame on me! How could I think such a thing?! My wedding day is a day I should cherish, forever and always. Prancing about in the garden in my dress is disgraceful!"

Then I was like, "Hey self, simmer down! It's just a dress and it is sort of a costume anyway. You spent a good few pounds/dollars on it! Congratulate yourself for wearing it more than once AND 5 years later, at that aaaaand for enjoying wearing it."

When it came to getting married I didn't care what I was wearing. I didn't care about cake or anything. I was so happy to be marrying the man. I was more excited for the marriage than the wedding, I guess.

Now I think I'd have liked to have done things differently. To have had a photographer and a huge party and cute invitations and shoes and favours and a dress I actually liked and didn't buy just because it was on sale and stuff...

How strange it is to sort of regret not caring about the wedding.

I'm terribly happily married though. I can't complain about that.

The Pied Piper of Shoes.

I don't have children.
I have shoes.
It's not how I chose it but when I do have children think of how many shoes they'll have!

I'm coming to terms with it...

No more of this
Or rather, no more of the same.

The birth of an addiction:

I vaguely remember picking these shoes out from our local Woolworths (RIP).
That may even be my earliest memory.
This is one of my favorite pictures of me from my childhood.
It was taken at the Harbour in Irvine, Scotland.
I was born in Irvine.

I also remember learning how to write in Primary School and I'd start every sentence on a new line.

The teacher asked me why I did that.

I thought that was how it was meant to be done...

I wish my legs were still that tanned.

Follow the yellow suede shoes...

Life is rarely dull around here.
Yesterday I had my fill of brightness, laughter and adorable shoes on another photoshoot.

Snow Show Barbeque.

I don't like snow.

But when I see a patch that has been untouched by human foot I can't help but want to be the first to crunch it, and make my mark in it.

Like my low budget movie shows. I love that crunching noise. It's just wonderful. Thanks Salt Lake City for snowing while I was walking to the swimming pool.

Thank you Golden Uggs that look like Iron Man boots that keep my feet as cosy as a sheep.

Jesus.

One of my favourite things about visiting Salt Lake City is the random graffiti.

My second time coming to this city was when I was technically moving here temporarily. I knew no one and I was pitching up for seven weeks, on my own. I ended up living with an old German Nazi – in his attic. Because I was using public transport I met a lot of interesting characters, one of which said to me, 'Welcome to the only theocracy in the United States.'

This is an interesting city, with a lot of interesting foundations, opinions, precepts and development. Unsurprisingly the oxymoron of religious graffiti is prevalent.

I enjoy finding this stencil sprayed on the pavements in random locations. I think because there's no Christian denomination attached to it. It could have been a Baptist, a Catholic, a Protestant, a Presbyterian or, in fact, a Mormon, that did this, I enjoy the mystery.

Remember, trust Jesus.

Hens.

There are girls in my life. And without them I would not float.

I am the red skinned hen and the other two are my life.

We were at the Hen night of my cousin who is another of my very best girls.
