Cold feet, warm heart.

My feet have always been colder than the rest of my body which is fine. It's not so fine for my husband who is always toasty warm. When we crawl into bed I like to sprawl all over him and rub my icey feet against his tisty toasty legs. If I get too hot I stick my feet out of the blanket and I feel better. Then I pull them back in and start the warming process all over again.
On Monday he bought me a pair of slippers.

Geocaching fashion...

"We went geocaching one day and my daughter was tired of wearing her
sneakers. I didn't know she had changed to her flip flops until we were
well into the woods."

Follow the yellow suede shoes...

Life is rarely dull around here.
Yesterday I had my fill of brightness, laughter and adorable shoes on another photoshoot.

Cup o' frost bite.

We had a tea party last week. It began with 2 cars, 4 girls and two sleepy little boys setting out on an adventure - after having a quick dance party in the carpark, ofcourse. Cars were packed with funky orange chairs, a table, cookies, girls with big flowers on their heads and Mika.
We ended up up to our knees in snow and we stayed that way for 4-ish hilariously quirky hours. This picture was taken at the beginning of the tea party photoshoot, before Megan's pinky toes turned into ice and began dislocating themselves to the outside of her shoe. It was a horrific sight but honestly she looked great, we all did!
What's a little frostbite for the sake of awesomeness?
It all ended with a little tea party team work...

young feet
When I was in high school, if I had been able to comprehend the things about myself that I know now, I think I would have hated it there. I'm thankful for my once limited view of things because I was with my own kind, and I enjoyed it. These are my young feet, when I thought I was developing a love for photography, but I was actually learning to love me.

"This photo is of my daughter. Oh my daughter! She is incredible and oh so charming with her chubby cheeks and cute little feet. I feel honored to be her mom and can't wait to thank her when she gets older. I have to thank her for changing my life. Her and her brother. I still can't believe she's mine. How grateful I am for her and for the love she gives. And for giving me a reason to buy such cute little shoes."

Ladies in Red

Hello, Gypsy Feet!
I found you by way of C Jane, and had such fun scrolling through all the great feets and their stories! (Feet say so much about a person, don't you think?) And then I thought of this picture I'm sending, which is a favorite of me and my daughter Natalie, who is 4 and loves to do everything just like Mama. So of course I paint her toes red just like mine. I hope you like it!

"You can sit beside me when the world comes down..."

Next month will mark 5 years of wandering on American soil for me. When I think about that it makes my head a bit fuzzy. I never really thought I'd be this far from home. But now I have been for almost a 5th of my life. So weird.
I came from a small town on the east coast of Scotland to just outside of the grand city of Seattle and then on to a little dusty town in Idaho.
I've collected memories and new words along the way. Put on a few pounds and have a husband who 'loves every inch of me'. I've seen things and been places my parents have never been. The time for living off of the parental unit's experiences and rules is long gone. They made me into who I am now: adventurous, quirky, shy, bright, funny, sensitive and artistic and set me on my way. They're still on their journey but now they don't have to hold my hand - as much as I'd love that. I'm learning to walk on my own and to balance on someone elses (usually) steady arm and to give support in return.
When Mr. A and I started this journey together we expected to have certain things that are obviously missing from our marriage right now. We had a plan but the Big Man Upstairs has different ideas and we're learning to enjoy the detour.
The two pairs of feet in our house - and the umpteen pairs of shoes at the front door - are happy. What more do we need?
Where do you think you'll be in 5 years? Are you where you thought you'd be 5 years ago.
Awesome, there's nothing more to it...

"your not hardcore unless you live hardcore"

Hey there...I am so pleased I ran across your blog! What a spledid project!
This picture didn't make it onto the post it belonged on because I didn't think anyone would appreciate it but me (maybe it will find a home with Gypsy Feet)...

And these little piggies went on a cruise!
These are my feet, no shoes but with a fresh pedicure. I am sitting at the back of a cruise ship heading to the Caribbean islands in December for a much needed vacation. This was my favorite spot on the ship, it was at the very back in the adults only section. I spent hours here on the thickly padded chairs with a good book and a waiter to keep the diet coke coming.

Snow Show Barbeque.
I don't like snow.
But when I see a patch that has been untouched by human foot I can't help but want to be the first to crunch it, and make my mark in it.
Like my low budget movie shows. I love that crunching noise. It's just wonderful. Thanks Salt Lake City for snowing while I was walking to the swimming pool.
Thank you Golden Uggs that look like Iron Man boots that keep my feet as cosy as a sheep.

The Rainbow Connection

"Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me..."

Jesus.
One of my favourite things about visiting Salt Lake City is the random graffiti.

My second time coming to this city was when I was technically moving here temporarily. I knew no one and I was pitching up for seven weeks, on my own. I ended up living with an old German Nazi – in his attic. Because I was using public transport I met a lot of interesting characters, one of which said to me, 'Welcome to the only theocracy in the United States.'
This is an interesting city, with a lot of interesting foundations, opinions, precepts and development. Unsurprisingly the oxymoron of religious graffiti is prevalent.
I enjoy finding this stencil sprayed on the pavements in random locations. I think because there's no Christian denomination attached to it. It could have been a Baptist, a Catholic, a Protestant, a Presbyterian or, in fact, a Mormon, that did this, I enjoy the mystery.
Remember, trust Jesus.

"I saw your blog from c jane and realized I have the perfect picture
for you! It is me and my girls feet, this past summer, in our silver
sandals. I realized we all similar shoes on ...and took the pic. I
always loved it! I blog too, so if you would like you can check my
blog out. I am a labor and delivery nurse--so mostly *stories from the
floor* and some personal stuff. I am heading back to look at your blog
some more now...let me know if you like the pic!"

We love the pic ;)
8 minutes in heaven:

"January 2009, Gold Canyon, AZWhile waiting for my husband in the store, I realized I had my camera with me (not unusual). With the 8 minutes he was in the store feeling like 80, I started clicking away. Since I really do love my feet, the subject matter was obvious."
- Lizzi
Irresistible Toes:
"My son is obsessed with my toes! Always has admired their beautiful shape, and beautiful shine... what can I say he has good taste? :) It wasn't til recently when we were having a lazy snowy morning here in Rexburg, Idaho that I realized he thought they were pretty scrumdidillyumptous (sp? :) too. He went to town on them, Good thing I had my camera handy as always.
Now some people might think I am a bad mom, letting your baby suck on your germ infested toes... Come on I hadn't been outside in days, and well lets be honest, you think they look a little lickable yourself too :)"

My feet belong to Tony Bennett.
"i think your blog is pretty neat. it reminded me of this picture from
2007. i guess it would be considered gypsy foot. anyway, i thought
it was kind of cool. i was walking along an over pass in calgary,
alberta to see tony bennett perform. i'm 30-years old, living in
charlotte, nc...and i love tony bennett."

Picture this. You're on a date. It's sort of a group date, but you are definitely paired off into couples, and you're with a really gorgeous guy that you barely know. You're walking down the street discussing heaven knows what when your date says, "I hate girls who wear high-heals. They're so pretentious." You look down at your 4 inch heals (that make you feel like a goddess) and surmise that either...
1. He has zero tact, zero boyfriend potential, and he doesn't like you.
2. You must be really steady on those shoes, good for you, and he can't even tell you're not 5 foot 10.
I'm afraid the former is correct. You can either...
A. Politely continue your date and then ignore his phone calls, if he even bothers.
B. Throw your heals at his head.
C. Lie. Say you don't even like wearing heals then marry the guy and be really short in all of your wedding photos, all because you're a people pleaser, and he's cute.

"If you have children who are grown and gone, in all likelihood you have occasionally felt pangs of loss and the recognition that you didn’t appreciate that time of life as much as you should have. Of course, there is no going back, but only forward. Rather than dwelling on the past, we should make the most of today, of the here and now, doing all we can to provide pleasant memories for the future.
If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly."
